Frequently Asked Questions

Lab-grown diamonds are diamonds with the same crystal structure, chemical composition, and physical properties as the mined rocks: carbon atoms arranged in a cubic crystal structure. They are grown in labs, with advanced technological processes that stimulate the same conditions under which mined diamonds develop when they form in the mantle, beneath the Earth’s crust.

Here at Stefee we proudly offer only laboratory-grown, socially and environmentally conscious diamonds in our fine jewelry.

This makes our diamonds brighter, and stronger and more responsible. Our diamonds are dedicated to sustainability.

Lab-grown diamonds are manufactured by two methods: chemical vapor deposition (CVD) or high pressure, high temperature (HPHT).

A seed, such as a thin diamond slice, is needed as the base for the chemical deposition process in the CVD process. The seed is positioned inside a chamber that has been vacuumed up to a high level. A carbon-rich gas is then pumped into the chamber. As the diamond is constructed layer by layer, energy is employed to dissolve the chemical bonds holding the gases together. The gems often take a month to fully develop.

While both offer a controlled environment, the HPHT is more costly and less energy efficient. A diamond seed is inserted into pure carbon via the thermodynamic process, which is coupled by tremendous pressure and heat. In 14 various ways, the carbon binds to the diamond seed to create a rough diamond with a complicated cub-octahedron shape.

We only use diamonds grown from CVD growing process.

Diamonds are officially defined by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) as "A mineral consisting largely of pure carbon crystallized in the isometric system," and regardless of how they are made—through mining or creation—both have the same chemical makeup. The distinction between lab-grown and mined diamonds is based on how they are produced. The terms "lab-grown" and "mined" denote the origin of the diamond; whereas mined diamonds are extracted from the earth using sophisticated pit, underground, or alluvial methods, heavy machinery, and a great deal of labor, created diamonds are produced by mimicking the process used to create diamonds in nature with no harm to the environment or to humans.

Natural diamonds and lab-grown ones can be thought of as being similar to ice created outside on a winter's day as opposed to ice that has developed inside your
refrigerator..

Yes, STEFEE offers inscribed certified lab-grown from 1 carat and above which has unique identification number. It is only visible with jewelers’ Loupe.

Choosing a carat weight is very much a personal preference. Stefee’s diamond experts suggest 1ct. – 3ct. should be an ideal size for an engagement ring.

The width to length ratio only applies to brilliant round diamonds and describes how square or rectangular a diamond is. The ratio has an impact on the stone's attractiveness for all other diamond shapes. Simply divide the length by the width to get the precise ratio for every diamond.

Diamonds that are colorless or almost colorless show clear on the scale and fall between the letters D and H. The scale descends starting with D, which stands for colorless. Small quantities of pale-yellow start to peek through anywhere after H. Our STEFEE-made diamonds typically range from D to G on the color scale and are colorless or almost colorless.

F and G are the colors Stefee suggests.

Cut- Starting with the cut, it is one of the most important characteristics of a diamond, its cut specifically refers to the quality of a diamond’s angles, proportions, symmetrical facets, brilliance, fire, scintillation and finishing details. In its natural state, a diamond’s beauty is generally well concealed, but once cut its brilliance is unlocked. Its value and beauty come from reflecting the maximum amount of light through its many facets. In a well-cut diamond, the facets reflect light off one another and disperse it through top. A diamond cut too deep or too shallow causes light to bounce out sideways or through bottom. All our diamonds are IGI certified. You can click  here  to know more. Only Round Brilliants can be rated as Ideal because they have the strictest cut criteria of all the shapes and have proportions that have been refined by empirical and mathematical data. The next level down is Excellent, followed by Very Good and Good.

COLOR – Unlike the typical concept of color, the color of a diamond is determined by the absence of color. A chemically pure and structurally flawless diamond has no color, just like a drop of clear water, and as a result, is worth more. These colors can be rated from D to Z, with D, E, and F being the highest color ratings and the shades of yellow starting at Z falling in alphabetical order after that.

Adversely, fancy color diamonds are yellow and brown stones that show color above the Z range or stones that show any other hue when turned face-up. The nitrogen in the diamond contributes to fluorescence. Despite having little impact, it obtains a different grade in lab reports. Every color on the color wheel is represented by these uncommon examples, but blue, green, pink, and red are especially significant. The value of gem diamonds in the D to Z range often decreases as the color becomes more noticeable, according to GIA. Contrarily, fancy color diamonds experience the exact opposite: As the color's intensity and purity rise, so does their value. Diamonds with vivid, large fancy colors are incredibly rare and expensive. Nevertheless, many exotic diamond hues are muted rather than pure and strong.”

CLARITY- Diamonds are created with intense pressure and heat reacting to carbon in a vacuumed chamber. This process can result in a variety of internal characteristics called ‘inclusions and external characteristics called ‘blemishes.’ These microscopic crystals called inclusions are inside every diamond and contribute to its uniqueness. FL which means flawless diamond is the highest clarity a diamond can acquire. It is free of inclusions. Without high magnification, however, you may never see the tiny inclusions in the diamond. The clarity start with FL, below that comes VVS1, VVS2, VS1, VS2, SI/1, SI/2, I1/, I2, I/3.

CARAT WEIGHT - In essence, carat weight describes the diamond's size. The definition of a metric "carat" is 200 milligrams. There are 100 "points" within each carat. A 250-point diamond will therefore be defined as 2.5 carats, or 250 pointers. This makes measurements up to the hundredth decimal point extremely accurate. Due to the fact that larger stones are more rare than smaller ones, size is the most obvious element that affects the diamond's value. However, the three additional diamond 4Cs—clarity, cut, and color—can significantly alter the values (and prices) of two diamonds of identical carat weight.

Yes! The market for sustainability has been opened by lab-grown diamonds, which are now available in a sector that was previously controlled by mined diamonds. The physical, atomical, and chemical characteristics of lab-grown diamonds are identical to those of their mined counterparts, and organizations like IGI accept them as genuine gems. Here is where you can read more about our diamonds here.

How are diamonds featured in STEFEE designs produced and is the process sustainable?

Our own laboratory uses the CVD process to make the sustainably created diamonds used in STEFEE designs. They start with a thin
diamond foundation. In a plasma reactor, carbon is atomized, and when the atoms stack one on top of the other, they expand the distinctive crystal structure of mined diamonds and cause them to grow into pure, gem-quality diamonds of jewelry quality. Any number of times, the foundation material can be cut off
and utilized as starting material. Our diamonds are cut and polished to the
highest standards possible by experienced craftsmen in our workshops once the rough stone has formed.

STEFEE sustainably sourced diamonds are manufactured with
less environmental impact. utilizing low emission patented technologies and enhanced efficiency using solar energy.

Our patented technology uses solar energy so that there
is a smaller carbon impact when growing our diamonds, making it more environmentally friendly than mining. Just one carat of lab-created diamonds saves 250 tons of earth, 120 gallons (450 liters) of water, and 143 lbs. (65 kg) of carbon dioxide
discharged into the atmosphere when compared to mined diamonds.

A fine piece of jewelry needs to be treated with care. When returning home, it should be properly removed. The last item you should put on before leaving the house is fine jewelry. Remove gently from the edges of rings rather than the top stone. We advise taking off jewelry before swimming since pool chemicals like chlorine can harm jewelry, and colder temperatures can shrink your finger size and make rings fall off. Additionally, it is preferable to take off your jewelry before taking a shower because soaps, shampoos, and other products can clog up earrings, necklaces, bracelets, and rings. It's crucial to maintain your regimen if you prefer to wear jewelry maintenance!

Please bear in mind that pure gold is malleable but durable, so scratches are normal with use.
